General check-in for anyone wanting to meet up and say HI at the SG con in Burbank in a week and a half. Both of us (Surreal and Anndie) will be there, as always - but this time as fans rather than volunteers. If anyone's gone to this con (or any Creation con in southern California) in the last four years, you've seen us around, usually as handlers for the actors. Let us know if you're coming and we'd love to meet you!!

(I really hope that picture isn't massively huge - if it is, I'm sorry! It says I can't scale it down.)

I'm going to wear a nametag that says "SURREAL" with my pin of Browder kissing Shanks. I'll be there Saturday and Sunday, most likely with my "twin" - Anndie. Here's what we look like: http://pics.livejournal.com/surranndie/pic/00004r3t/

I need to make the "I'm only here because Andy's hawt" icon...
*uses the icon again because i said so*
But thanks for reading Eli despite our scattering of story arcs. *raises hand* That's my fault.

Get to know the layout of the building. It's really simple - it's a basic U shape. You walk in the door, that's the registration desk where you buy any and all tickets (entrance, autograph, photos, parties). Make sure you stop there first, get your wristband! (You can't get around without the wristband). If you are doing general admission, you can sit anywhere there isn't a number sticker on the seat or a yellow row marker (they're paper letters stuck to the end chairs of each aisle. If you're doing reserved seating of any kind, head for the auditorium and get to know where your seat is. Auditoriums are going to be split into two conventions this time - there's an SG side and a Firefly/Serenity side, with a food court in the middle. There will be boards on tripods telling you what each room is.
Okay, I should stop...hehehe! Sorry, I've been volunteering with this company for four years now. :D I think the best piece of advice is to take advantage of the volunteers - they're there to help.
The two of us (we're "the twins") will be very happy to help you out, guide you around and show you the ropes! I'll be wearing a lanyard nametag that says "SURREAL". If you can't find me, find the volunteer that looks like John Cleese, he'll be able to hook us up. Trust me, you can't miss him. *GRIN!!!!*

i read the comment you made with tips and pointers and i plan on memorizing all your advice. ^^; (and any other tips you'd like to share feel free to pass them on!)
i think it would be nice to meet up with other LJ people, since the few people i have on here who are fans of the show wont be going.

i have a question, people are allowed to bring cameras yes? i will probably have my big digital SLR, and i just wanted to make sure no one was going to tell me i'd have to leave it in the car or anything.
i'm actually starting to get really excited. my friend payed for me to have my photo taken with David and i'm starting to freak out a wee bit. ^^;

Photo ops are WAY fun, nothing to be nervous about. They're quick, everyone just goes in a line and one after another, the photographer takes your photo. David is really nice in photo ops, he usually will shake your hand, introduce himself. Just introduce yourself and it'll be fine - he'll drape his arm around you and everything, he's very cuddly.

i have another question, do you know if they allow people to give the stars gifts in either the photo op or the autograph session??? i want to give David something (possibly jelly babies) but i don't want to get them and then him not be able to take them. ^^;

*cue minor freak out*
I have a question about tickets though. When one orders tickets, does one usually get tickets for each thing? Seating, photo op, signing? Cause I only got seating tickets in the mail and I'm wondering if I should've gotten more? This has been vexing me.
Oh yeah, and I'm totally local too. :) Well, if San Diego counts as local. :D

YAY!! If you see me around, feel free to say HI! I'll be wearing a lanyard with a nametag that says "SURREAL." I'm hoping to get the LJ people over for a short hang-out in the hotel bar next door between the stage stuff and the cabaret on Saturday evening. :D
