General check-in for anyone wanting to meet up and say HI at the SG con in Burbank in a week and a half. Both of us (Surreal and Anndie) will be there, as always - but this time as fans rather than volunteers. If anyone's gone to this con (or any Creation con in southern California) in the last four years, you've seen us around, usually as handlers for the actors. Let us know if you're coming and we'd love to meet you!!

Yes, I'm going. I've been the past two years. I'm local but staying in the hotel fri-mon with another fan.

Yay!! I'm going to wear a nametag that says "SURREAL" with my pin of Browder kissing Shanks. I'll be there Saturday and Sunday, most likely with my "twin" - Anndie. Here's what we look like: http://pics.livejournal.com/surranndie/pic/00004r3t/

(I really hope that picture isn't massively huge - if it is, I'm sorry! It says I can't scale it down.)

Me too - local, sleeping at home, at the con Sunday only. Ah, Hewlett, Luttrell and Momoa all on stage at once! :)

Yay!! I seriously cannot WAIT until the three of them are on stage together, it's going to be epic! I'm going to wear a nametag that says "SURREAL" with my pin of Browder kissing Shanks. Whoo! I'll give you the same info as the others - feel free to say HI if you see me!

I think my friend Alda is going to that...

Hope you guys have fun! (But of course you will.)

From: [identity profile] surranndie.livejournal.com

Nice! If so, you can tell her I'm a crazy person running around with a nametag that says "SURREAL" and the girl I'm with is Marius' fictional boyfriend. *gigglesnort*

From: [identity profile] koslorollo.livejournal.com

HAHAHAHA!!! Andy just seems so much his own person now that I kinda forgot that detail. o.O *means no offence, master*

Well, I passed the message along to Alda. :)

From: [identity profile] surranndie.livejournal.com

*pets the pretty reverently* He really is. And I still want to know what's happened to him. *gives you the eye, since the last chapter didn't tell us anything* >.

From: [identity profile] koslorollo.livejournal.com

Yknow, strangely enough there's not much more to tell than what we've already learned. It's sort of an on-going arc, but there's no chapter of explanation devoted entirely to that subject... It was just a curse and... yeah... lol! We fail.

I need to make the "I'm only here because Andy's hawt" icon...

*uses the icon again because i said so*

But thanks for reading Eli despite our scattering of story arcs. *raises hand* That's my fault.

I'll be there, leaving whoopie cushions on your seats when you're not looking.

And....I'll be spending the weekend complaining about how mean John Cleese is. Bwaha!!!

Hi! This is my first atlantis con, so any pointers, suggestions, ways to look less lost, would be appreciated. Thanks!

Whoo! I'd say, the most important thing to do is as soon as you get through the door, grab a schedule and let it become your best friend! Highlight the things you want to see, make sure that if you're doing photo ops with any stars to make sure you know when they are.

Get to know the layout of the building. It's really simple - it's a basic U shape. You walk in the door, that's the registration desk where you buy any and all tickets (entrance, autograph, photos, parties). Make sure you stop there first, get your wristband! (You can't get around without the wristband). If you are doing general admission, you can sit anywhere there isn't a number sticker on the seat or a yellow row marker (they're paper letters stuck to the end chairs of each aisle. If you're doing reserved seating of any kind, head for the auditorium and get to know where your seat is. Auditoriums are going to be split into two conventions this time - there's an SG side and a Firefly/Serenity side, with a food court in the middle. There will be boards on tripods telling you what each room is.

Okay, I should stop...hehehe! Sorry, I've been volunteering with this company for four years now. :D I think the best piece of advice is to take advantage of the volunteers - they're there to help.

The two of us (we're "the twins") will be very happy to help you out, guide you around and show you the ropes! I'll be wearing a lanyard nametag that says "SURREAL". If you can't find me, find the volunteer that looks like John Cleese, he'll be able to hook us up. Trust me, you can't miss him. *GRIN!!!!*

my friend Taylor ([livejournal.com profile] teiira) and i are going, and this will be our first SG con.

i read the comment you made with tips and pointers and i plan on memorizing all your advice. ^^; (and any other tips you'd like to share feel free to pass them on!)

i think it would be nice to meet up with other LJ people, since the few people i have on here who are fans of the show wont be going.

From: [identity profile] surranndie.livejournal.com

Yay!! I'll be happy to help you out, or you if you're really lost you can always track down a volunteer (who will no doubt then point you to me...*giggle*). I'm thinking it would be fun to do an LJ-groupie get-together on Saturday night at the hotel bar (that's where we usually hang out between the day and night events). Maybe I'll make a sign that says "SGA LIVEJOURNAL PARTY!" or something equally silly and obnoxious. :D

From: [identity profile] missatralissa.livejournal.com

i think it would be so cool to have a LJ group gathering, if you make the sign i will be on the look out for it! ^^

i have a question, people are allowed to bring cameras yes? i will probably have my big digital SLR, and i just wanted to make sure no one was going to tell me i'd have to leave it in the car or anything.

i'm actually starting to get really excited. my friend payed for me to have my photo taken with David and i'm starting to freak out a wee bit. ^^;

From: [identity profile] surranndie.livejournal.com

Yep!! Cameras are fine everywhere, including in the auditoriums during talks. I can tell you what is not allowed - video or audio taping of the people on stage (it's part of their contract, so it's at their request). If you're attending an "after hours" event - dessert party or brunch, cameras are allowed except when an actor is at your table, then they're put away (so everyone can talk without the annoyance of pictures being taken.) :D

Photo ops are WAY fun, nothing to be nervous about. They're quick, everyone just goes in a line and one after another, the photographer takes your photo. David is really nice in photo ops, he usually will shake your hand, introduce himself. Just introduce yourself and it'll be fine - he'll drape his arm around you and everything, he's very cuddly.

From: [identity profile] missatralissa.livejournal.com

coo thank you! i hope i can get some good shots.

i have another question, do you know if they allow people to give the stars gifts in either the photo op or the autograph session??? i want to give David something (possibly jelly babies) but i don't want to get them and then him not be able to take them. ^^;

From: [identity profile] surranndie.livejournal.com

Yep, that's just fine! You can give it during either the photo op or the autograph session. Probably better during autographs, since photo ops are generally pretty quick and it's best not to hold up that line. :D

From: [identity profile] missatralissa.livejournal.com

cool, thank you so much for answering all my questions and for all the advice! ^^

From: [identity profile] jcjoeyfreak.livejournal.com

Hey! Just wanted to say I'm going to the con too. I just realized it's in three days. oO

*cue minor freak out*

I have a question about tickets though. When one orders tickets, does one usually get tickets for each thing? Seating, photo op, signing? Cause I only got seating tickets in the mail and I'm wondering if I should've gotten more? This has been vexing me.

Oh yeah, and I'm totally local too. :) Well, if San Diego counts as local. :D

From: [identity profile] surranndie.livejournal.com

Generally, yes you do get seperate tickets for each "thing" - your seat ticket, photo ops tickets and autograph tickets. (The exception is if you purchased "gold weekend" or "preferred weekend" tickets, those have some complimentary autographs with them that are listed on the site). If you don't have them, bring your purchasing paperwork/reciept stuff (basically, proof of purchase) to registration with you. They may have your name on the "on call" list and you can pick them up right there.

YAY!! If you see me around, feel free to say HI! I'll be wearing a lanyard with a nametag that says "SURREAL." I'm hoping to get the LJ people over for a short hang-out in the hotel bar next door between the stage stuff and the cabaret on Saturday evening. :D
