I don't usually do these meme things, but this one interested me.

Post the first line from your 25 most recent fanfics and try to find a pattern

(Am excluding Grand Prix fics and drabbles from request parties, which leaves exactly 25 to work with. Also, not going in date posted order because...wow, too much effort. Am going in order of master list.)

1. By the time the royal family turned to face the rest of the group that had gathered behind them, Glitch had wandered off to study a colorful tapestry nearby. (From "Reunion")

2. "You've got a few grey hairs," Cain observed casually. (From "Little Details")

3. "Ambrose," Cain rolled the name off his tongue in a calm, almost bored way. (From "Useful Tools")

4. The first time they made love, it was with a such an edge of desperation and pure, intense lust that they never made it to a bed. (From "Keeper")

5. Cain paddled miserably through the icy water toward the nearest scattering of rocks that called itself a river bank. (From "Glow")

6. The morning after the eclipse, Wyatt woke with a warm, lax body in his arms in an unfamiliar room. (From "Neither Here Nor There")

7. Cain found him in a small, dark room full of dust and books, laying on an overstuffed couch. (From "Prodigy")

8. Wyatt let the cool, brisk breeze brush past his face and through his short hair, eyes closed and wearing an expression close to bliss. (From "Day on the Lake")

9. The spring season had come again and with it came the allergies that Jeb had been battling for the past three annuals since the flowers and grasses had begun to bloom full and bright for the first time since he was a child. (From "Spring Fever")

10. Supple, yielding skin graced the rough palms of his hands as he pushed them up, following the curve of flesh the color of cream. (From "Connect")

11. Sipping slowly at his glass of wine, Wyatt Cain moved slowly around the edges of the mingling aristocrats and other people from a higher class than himself. (From "Renewal")

12. “Tell me a story,” Glitch’s request was soft and weak. (From "Lessons Remembered")

13. Glitch noticed the way Cain was pressing his back up against one of the rough brick walls, away from the light and deep in shadow. (From "Response")

14. Cain woke with a start, gasping at the pain pulsing through his chest. (From "Reversal")

15. The sound of the heavy wood door being firmly closed was still echoing in the room when Cain found himself pushed against it by a grinning headcase. (From "Prize")

16. Wyatt woke to a soft, warm breath in his ear and he smiled sleepily, rolling over without bothering to open his eyes. (From "Wake Up Call")

17. Tiny, delicate clicks and whirs brought to life the detailed model of a deep, forest brown farm tractor and the little boy’s eyes lit up, his smile contagious as the shop owner grinned back at him, delighted at his own work. (From "A. Rob Ems' Mechanical Toys")

18. Pushing through the thick, acrid smoke and past bodies of fallen Longcoats and rebels alike, Cain kept a sharp eye out for a face that was familiar and painfully new at the same time. (From "Unfamiliar")

19. If there was one thing Cain had never considered Glitch to be, it was small. (From "Small")

20. The table in the Queen’s meeting hall was covered in wrinkled maps and dusty notebooks. (From "Tangible")

21. Lying on his side facing the far wall was a man, his clothes filthy and torn and rust colored in places. (From "Annex")

22. When Wyatt Cain heard the snapping of branches coming from the woods behind his cabin, his grip on the axe tightened. (From "Common Enemy pt.1")

23. Making his way to the comfortably small kitchen, Cain noted with the back of his mind how his dinner guest remained hovering just inside the cabin’s door. (From "Common Enemy pt.2")

24. Princess Dorothy tugged at the slick ribbon tied around the waist of her dress, grimacing when she only succeeded in letting the material slip free of itself. (From "When Wonderland Shatters")

25. It wasn’t until after a large, hot, incredibly awkward meal and a good night’s sleep that they gathered together to decide on teams to complete a final, thorough sweep through the Tower. (From "The Remote")

~~PATTERNS~~
- Very rarely start a story with a quote.
- Most of the time at least one character name shows up.
- Cain is the most frequent character to be mentioned first.

Hmm. Is it a good or bad thing when I can't seem to spot any more patterns?

I'd say it's a good thing.

This was very interesting, and fun... thanks!

Thanks for reading! :D I'm glad that having few patterns is a good thing - guess that's an indication of creativity? *shrug*

A definite sign of creativity!

I just did mine, and, um... There IS a pattern. *sighs*

*hugs* That can also be a sign of creativity! :) Poetic minds and such.

Cool meme Surr! Noticed most of the time it's Wyatt Cain you start out with too in them. :D

Thanks! That's a good one, I'll add it to the list. I must have a special thing for Cain's point of view. :)

These were all fantastic - they pull you in straightaway and get right into the action! 2, 6, and 19 are my top 3 favorites, I think, based on which piqued my curiousity most!

*happy bouncy grin!!* Aww, that's very sweet to say! This was a fun meme to do, since it's actually kind of useful as a writing tool. I think #2 is the one that makes me feel the most curious, too... :D

I think I'm gonna do this. I've never done a meme before and this sounds like fun. I wonder what I can discover about myself :P

*nod* It's a good one. Oddly satisfying. And a lot of others are doing it on my flist, so I'm happily digging through their fic again, too. :D
