14. Sealed with a kiss

DG, Princess of the O.Z, hid her smile, as did Raw, as they watched Glitch painstakingly fold up a soft blanket and place it on the front passenger seat of their car. The way he slowly climbed up and took his cushioned place made the other two share a knowing grin.

Cain gave them a look that dared them to say a single word as he tossed his and Glitch’s bags into the trunk. “Get in the car before I change my mind and leave you two here.”

With an undignified snort, DG did as she was told. Raw took an extra moment to give Cain an indulgent shake of his head before walking around to the other side of the vehicle and joining DG in the backseat.

Glitch turned around and offered them a bag of dried apple slices, blissfully unaware of why they were blushing. “It’s a long drive, so I made sure to pack plenty of snacks for the road.”

“Excellent planning, Glitch,” DG praised him, taking the offering. “You know the way Cain drives we’ll be there sometime next week.”

“I’m not letting you drive, DG,” Cain shot back as he climbed into the driver’s seat and went through the process of twisting knobs and hitting buttons that would start the engine.

“Spoil sport,” DG pouted. “So, are you guys going to hang around when we get back, or are you going straight out to the cabin to get back to your studies?”

“I suppose a few days with the family would be good,” Glitch pondered. “Now that I remember a lot more about my influence and how to control it, your mother needs to be informed.”

“Does that mean you’re going to go back into your role as Keeper?” Cain asked him with a sidelong glance, curious about what the future may hold for them.

Glitch thought for a long moment but finally gave a slow nod. “Yes,” he answered, staring ahead at the road in front of them. “But only if you guys promise to stick to your roles as my Keepers.”

“You know we will, sweetheart,” Cain replied, his vow sealed with a kiss.

Me thinks Glitch-o-my-heart maybe eating his wheaties off the mantelpiece for a few days (as we used to say in Professionals fandom, back in the day) but at least he'll being doing it with a smile on his face!

Wonderful, wonderful story, I've enjoyed it so much. I love your characterizations of all the characters and the fact that you give time to all of them, which is kind of nice :D

OMG...the FIRST fic I wanted to read when I got back was the last couple of parts to this. Talk about cliffhangers - and I had to wait so long! This was a fabulous story, and I loved how you wrapped it up with the last two lines. And DG with her pancakes (which they will now want at least once a week, I'm sure) and Raw understanding DG might need to forgive Glitch for making her do such a thing, and the tenderness of Glitch settling against Cain's leg to sleep - it was wonderful!

The boys really needed a good cuddle after all that and Glitch is a possessive snuggler!

aw this is adorable! I love it! The cuteness that is the four of them together and Cain and Glitch! The folded blanket had me rolling though, ;D. Just wonderful. And Glitch giving his life, so he thought, to protect them! Made all kinds of girly 'aw' sounds lol :D *runs back to master list*
