...OZ is so gay.

No, really. So, I'm in the process of reading all of the original L. Frank Baum OZ books (there are 15 'canon' books in his series). I'm on the second book, "The Marvelous Land of OZ," and while I knew going in that it was a giant Tin Woodman/Scarecrow love fest...WOW. No, really. This is possibly one of the gayest books ever written. There have been so many references to how much they love each other, their 'loving embrace' at meeting again...and Scarecrow keeps calling him "my dear Nick," which makes me giggle so much.

Today's favorite bit:

"My poor, poor friend!" said the Tin Woodman, taking up the Scarecrow's head and caressing it tenderly.

*howls with the homoerotic text of it all*

Canon since ever, even Baum shipped it, etc. ♥

*just continues the icon trend*

Speaking of: I just stole YOUR icon for the RP account, with the keywords "there is no excuse for this whatsoever". Someday I will find reason to use it.

...yeah. I'm just completely blown away by how Baum wrote their relationship - even taking into account the 100+ years since it was written, there's just no way you can misconstrue their obvious love. *happy sigh* Definitely worth the read, that's for sure.

As for more 'Tin Man' moments - twice now (in the first OZ book and in this one) they've taken the Scarecrow apart and used his straw to hide someone. First book it was Dorothy and Toto, this book it was several in the traveling group. Reminds me of the little moment when Glitch used his jacket to hide DG. *squee*
