*thud* So, it's my fourth Grand Slam convention and I've lost count of how many cons I've worked total. Ended up with the dreaded Red Lanyard today - that means I'm in charge of the volunteers. As in, I'm the volunteer supervisor for the weekend and I get to herd several thousand fans, vendors, volunteers (scheduling assignments, breaks, rotations, etc) and guests (actors and their autograph sessions).
Not too bad, Friday's always the "slow" day. Got to meet Max Grodenchik (ST:DS9 "Rom"), Salome Jens (ST:DS9 shapeshifter along with a huge resume of stuff back to the '50's), Vaughn Armstrong (ST actor among tons of other stuff), Suzie Plakson (ST actress) and Tim Russ (ST:Voyager "Tuvok") as he was setting up his band stuff backstage. They were all very nice people, which makes it a pleasant experience for everyone.
Others that happened to be running around that I talked to or just greeted politely included Nichelle Nicols ("Uhura"), Richard Kiel (look him up, it's worth it), Herb Jefferson Jr (original Battlestar Galactica's "Boomer"), Brent Spiner ("Data"), and the always awesome and underfoot Steven Sears (Xena writer/producer).
Tomorrow will be a bit more chaotic, like usual. Only have one thing to say - JAMES MARSTERS.
