"You're not serious," Cain stated, his tone incredulous. He slid forward in the chair in front of Glitch's desk, resting his elbows on his knees and clasping his hands tightly together. "She can't seriously expect you do go through with this!"

Glitch didn't bother raising his head from where it was resting on his crossed arms on his desk. "It's in their contract," he mumbled despondently. "The delegates from the northern corner of Quadling Country won't negotiate for access to their land unless we follow the existing contract from before...everything. And they do mean, to the letter."

"But - "

"It's only temporary," Glitch assured him weakly, a defeated smile emerging. "She'll turn me back when the negotiations are over. It is my duty to the monarchy, after all."

And so it was that when the Quadling Country party arrived through the elaborate front entrance of the Central City palace, they were overjoyed to be greeted as they had been in the days before the dark reign of Azkadellia. By a small, demure owl performing a perfect, reverent bow.

Luckily, none of the delegates noticed the head of security standing nearby, shaking with barely contained amusement.
